Business Development Manager - Pacific
Prior to Infatec, Chris has worked in the solar energy industry across off-grid Africa and on-grid Europe for the past 7 years.
In Europe, Chris was responsible for International Business Development for Sungevity International, with a focus on new market entry. During his time, he helped drive the company’s expansion into Italy and Belgium and set up the blueprint for analysing and entering new markets across Europe.
Chris has also driven Business Development in off-grid African communities in Uganda, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Cameroon and Burkina Faso for the goal of stimulating rural economic development. In these communities, which often have no experience with reliable electricity supply, effective community engagement and local ownership models were paramount for success. Specifically, Chris was tasked with setting-up and scaling rural Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) in rural off-grid communities. During his time, the ESCOs rolled out 2MW of distributed solar+storage assets to rural customers, ranging from household-level Solar Home Systems (SHS) up to community-level micro-grids (200kWp / 500kWh).
Chris returns to his home town of Wellington to help Infratec drive a private sector-led strategy for displacing the current diesel-based energy generation in the Pacific Islands.
