General Manager - Delivery and Operations
Simon has worked in a number of roles in the utility and infrastructure industries in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. This has included positions with the grid owners, consultancies and contractors.
He most recently led the teams responsible for the design, procurement, construction, commissioning of the utility relocations and intelligent traffic systems (ITS) necessary for the Transmission Gully motorway project in Wellington NZ. The utility works for this project involves relocations of all the critical services in the region including high pressure gas mains, transmission / distribution lines, main backbone fibre networks and bulk water supply pipelines.
Prior to this role, Simon was the Area Manger (England & Wales) for Balfour Beatty’s overhead line business which provided design, construction and maintenance services to electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
As a consultant Simon worked for grid owners across New Zealand and Australia. In particular he assisted grid owners to develop maintenance methodologies, provided condition assessments of transmission assets, construction assistance and completed designs for overhead lines.
At Transpower Simon worked in a small team with responsibility for maintaining New Zealand’s overhead transmission network.
